100g/4ozs Barkat Flour Mix
pinch of Salt
1 Egg (beaten)
50g/2oz Grated mature cheese
Pinch of Pepper
2 or 3tbs Water to mix
Rub butter into the Barkat Flour Mix, until the mix resembles fine breadcrumbs.
Mix in cheese and cayenne pepper.
Mix in the egg.
Add enough water, to form a stiff dough.
Turn the dough onto a lightly dusted board and knead until the dough becomes pliable.
Roll out the pastry to a thickness of a ¼ inch.
Cut pastry into½ inch strips.
Twist each strip and place onto a greased baking tray.
Brush with egg or water and sprinkle grated cheese over the straws.
Finish off with a sprinkling of Cayenne Pepper.
Bake for 15mins at 200c/400f.
Allow to cool and transfer to a cooling rack.
